From staff reports
Albemarle Regional Health Services is offering extended hours to administer vaccines for school-aged children.
Starting with the 2008-09 school year, children will be required to have a booster dose of the Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis) vaccine if:
they are public school students entering the sixth grade and have not had the vaccine within the past five years; or
they are non-public school students 12 years or older and have not had the vaccine within the past five years.
The vaccines can be administered by either a family physician or at Albemarle Regional Health Services. Local health departments are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
In addition, health departments in Pasquotank, Perquimans, Chowan, and Currituck counties will offer a night clinic each Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The Camden County Health Department will hold the extended hours on the second and fourth Thursday of every month.
