Elizabeth City Police arrested a Perquimans County man Tuesday who they believe to be responsible for a string of break-ins last week.
Steven Dale Miles, 24, of the 900 block of Sandy Cross Road, Belvidere, was charged with felony breaking and entering, breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, larceny of a motor vehicle and injury to real property, according to a city police press release.
On Aug. 7, Miles is suspected of breaking into two businesses, The Board Room and A & A Insurance, both of which are located on Halstead Boulevard Extended.
Miles is also a suspect in the theft of a vehicle and several small items inside it, Elizabeth City police Sgt. Mike Boone said.
The city had received several reports of breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, later discovering the stolen vehicle in Perquimans County, Boone said. Using the city's crime cameras in the Sawyertown area, police investigators were able to link Miles to the crime, he said.
Miles is being held at the Albemarle District Jail in lieu of a $3,000 bond.
The Perquimans County Sheriff's Department assisted in the investigation.
