CAMDEN — Five candidates will vie this November for three seats on the Camden County Board of Education, but one of them won’t be longtime school board member Wayne White.
White, who has served four four-year terms on the school board — a total of 16 years — did not seek a fifth term.
The filing period for three open school board seats ended at noon today.
White, the Camden school board’s chairman, could not be immediately reached for comment. Citing family reasons, he had been noncommittal about his re-election plans when asked about them earlier this month.
Two of White’s colleagues on the school board did file for re-election to new terms. Both Chris Wilson and Dawn Jones are seeking new terms. If Wilson is re-elected, it will be his fourth term on the school board. Jones is seeking a second term.
Three political newcomers are also seeking the three open seats. Jason Banks and Kevin Heath filed on the first day of filing, July 1. Joining them on Wednesday was Whitney “Sissy” Aydlett of 110 Sleepy Hollow Road.
