North Carolina authorities cited 58 people on a variety of charges from traffic citations to fishing violations during a state border patrol crackdown Thursday.
Among citations issued at the border stop on U.S. Highway 17 at the N.C.-Va. state line were five motorists charged with driving while license revoked and 19 charged with not having a driver’s license.
The remainder included 29 traffic violations and four criminal charges for possessing illegal fish, according to a release from the Camden County Sheriff’s Office.
Those 58 charges were made on the North Carolina side of the border and did not include charges made by the Chesapeake Police Department and Virginia State Police.
The release stated that the border stop was designed to monitor DWI offenses.
The North Carolina side of the operation included several other agencies including Pasquotank and Currituck sheriff’s offices, the North Carolina Highway Patrol, the Elizabeth City and Kill Devil Hills police departments and North Carolina Marine Fisheries.

All that in just one day. Let's do that once a week and see the results.Yes we need more officers and more money to pay them. They're throwing away plenty on a stupid wall.

Are you telling me that the law enforcement in this area is so confused and out of touch that they fining people for illegal fish?!! How about using that energy wasted to round up illegal fish and hand out petty license fines and use it to break down gangs and drug dealers, especially the ones in E-City. We have a town, a small town, and the drugs, gangs and stupidity should be focused on before illegal fish and citations. Get some backbone and fix real problems then focus on this crap!
