The suspect, who is a black male, was wearing a black mask and carrying a long gun when he entered the Mr. Mart, at U.S. Highway 158 and N.C. Highway 34, shortly before 9:15 p.m. and just before closing time, Sheriff Tony Perry said.
The suspect, after demanding and receiving money, ran away in the direction of U.S. 158 East, Perry said. The amount of how much cash is missing wasn't disclosed.
There were no reports of any injuries.
The suspect is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs approximately 200 pounds, but he is of average build. The suspect was last seen wearing all-black clothing.
