Channel 14
Time-Warner still broadcasts channel 7 from Washington, N.C. in addition to channel 10, WAVY, both of which are NBC stations. And although I have many issues with Time-Warner as a company, I do give them credit for broadcasting a North Carolina news channel (channel 14) for its North Carolina customers.
By the way, what's up with channel 35, CMT (Country Music Time)? There are extended periods of time during the day in which I get a blank, snowy screen. These seem consistent as to time of day. I do receive CMT at night. Anyone have a clue about what's going on there? Thanks. :)
Nothing but lip service
Mediacom is just trying to justify dropping yet another channel to improve bottom line profits for their own sake. The FCC is very lenient regarding fringe area services. They recognize that viewers in certain areas want channels that apply to their own area and will bend the rules to allow and make it happen. Mediacom is blowing smoke when they blame the FCC. Don't believe them! It's all about the money! It just another case of the subscriber getting less service for the same money. A price increase is soon to come. Just wait and see!
FCC rules
These FCC rules that will not let us see local/state stations on our cable/satellite systems do a great disservice to our communities. Think about election season. When was the last time you saw a NC political ad on the major networks? I, for one, have not seen any in the last 15 or so years since these rules have been in effect. I would much rather watch NC news stations which cover issues affecting our state than the minimal coverage we get on the Viginia stations. For many people the only source of local and state issues is the television and when it comes time to form opinions on these issues they are, sadly, left out in the cold. PFerland
