City still hopeful for utility deal relief

Elizabeth City officials remain “pretty confident” that selling municipal shares of four power plants will lower electric rates, despite a lead negotiator on the deal hedging on the savings it will deliver.

Sounds like we are - finally - going to have a legitimate opportunity to lower our electric bills. Hopeful planned sale provides some rate relief. The original deal, which all NCEMPA members have been stuck with, probably comes under the heading of "be careful what you wish for!" Let's keep our fingers crossed that help - even if modest - is finally on the way! Bill Hiemer
