Stacey Cooper: Restaurant Manager

Sunday, March 30, 2008

How would you describe your job? I train, advise employees. You have to be the brains of the system to make money. We made $3 million last year and now offer outside ordering. It's always packed.

Stacey Cooper, age 36

Elizabeth City

Restaurant Manager

McDonald's, 1 year as manager (3 total)

Has your job been affected by changes in technology or other changes? Technology has made my job better. We have an automated beverage system now that saves time.

Besides salary, what benefits do you derive from your work? I get sent to school to collect college credits. Plus health benefits and getting to travel. I have a 401(k) plan and a profit-sharing plan.

What are the long-term or indirect benefits of your job? I hire most night-shifters as high school kids to put money in their pockets.

How do you see your job benefiting the larger community? I also hire college students part-time to help them with their college expenses. We are a big employer.
