How would you describe your job?
(I) clean rooms, (do guests') laundry.
Chrystal Griffin, age 21 Elizabeth City Housekeeper Days Inn, 3 years |
Has your job been affected by changes in technology or other changes? Before, you had to pour detergent (in the washing machine) yourself. Now all we have to do is push the start button, and it automatically (pre-dispenses the correct amount of detergent and) starts by itself.
Besides salary, what benefits do you derive from your work? Job satisfaction.
What are the long-term or indirect benefits of your job? If I have to go to a doctor's appointment, or don't have anyone to watch my baby, if I request time off, I can get it.
How do you see your job benefiting the larger community? She said her job allows her to make a living and raise a child who will grow up and be a part of the community.
"I can work (at Days Inn) even though I have a child."
