How would you describe your job? Make preparations for school board meetings, posting required
notices, record minutes of school board meetings and handle all school board correspondence.
Mary Kay Peele, age 40 Chowan County Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent Perquimans County Schools, 12 years |
Has your job been affected by changes in technology or other changes? The aspect of communication is important in any organization. E-mail can be used to notify the entire school district of various announcements. In the event of inclement weather, bus delays or other announcements, the Connect-ED telephone system is used by our public information officer to notify parents quickly and efficiently.
Besides salary, what benefits do you derive from your work? In addition to the financial aspects, I am privileged to work with an exceptionally talented group of people who are focused on educating the children in our county.
What are the long-term or indirect benefits of your job? I think one of the indirect benefits of my job is being able to stay abreast of technology.
Technology is integrated in the curriculum and is a vital part of instruction for teachers and students.
How do you see your job benefiting the larger community? I believe the support that I provide to the Perquimans County Board of Education, the superintendent and administrators of our school system allows them to do their jobs more effectively.
