Low-income energy assistance applications.The Currituck County Department of Social Services will accept applications for the Low Income Energy Assistance Program through today. Applications may be turned in at the DSS office, located at the Governmental Center, 2793 Caratoke Highway, in Currituck. For more information, call 232-3083.

American Legion sponsors turkey shoots. American Legion Post 288 in Coinjock will sponsor turkey shoots Saturdays in November and December. Sign-ups are at 11 a.m., and the shooting begins at noon. For more information call 453-2079.

Computer class schedule. The Currituck Public Library will host an introduction to Excel cmputer class Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Space is limited. For info, call 453-8345.

GED classes offered in Currituck.College of The Albemarle’s Basic Skills Program is now offering General Educational Development classes at Moyock United Methodist Church on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Classes are free. Law Enforcement Association fundraiser. The Beach Bums store will hold a silent auction featuring the work of local artists, to benefit the Currituck County Law Enforcement Association Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. All proceeds will be used to help needy families this Christmas, as well as the Shop With a Deputy program. Eat Smart, Move More. The Currituck Center of the Cooperative Extension Service will hold registration for its “Eat Smart, Move More” holiday challenge, beginning Monday. Registration is open at www.myeatsmartmovemore.com and participation is free. For more info, call 232-2261.

Farm City Banquet. The Currituck Center of the Cooperative Extension Service will co-sponsor the annual Farm City Banquet at the K.E. White Center Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 7 p.m. For more info, call 338-3954.

Christmas Parade, Tree illumination. The Currituck Extension & Community Association will sponsor its 18th annual Currituck Christmas Parade Saturday, Dec. 1 at 10 a.m. Afterward, the 55th annual Tree Illumination will be held at the Currituck Judicial Center. The event will feature refreshments, entertainment from the “Joyful Sounds” choral group, and a visit from Santa. UNC of Moyock to present comedy dinner theater. The United Methodist Church of Moyock will present ‘Tis the Season,” a Christmas comedy dinner theater, Saturday, Dec. 8 in the church sanctuary at 268 Caratoke Highway in Moyock. Tickets, which include admission to the play and a prime rib dinner, are $12 for adults, $8 for children 10 and under. For info, call 435-6920.
