City holiday trash pickup. The Elizabeth City Public Works Department will adjust garbage collection routes during the holidays. Monday and Tuesday routes will be collected today, and today's and Thursday routes will be collected Thursday. Friday's route will be collected Friday.

Albemarle Hospice quilt raffle. Tickets are on sale for the Albemarle Hospice quilt. Proceeds will be used to pay for care for hospice patients. Tickets are $1. For more info, call Cara at 338-4326.

DAV van drivers needed. The Disabled American Veterans Chapter 64 in Elizabeth City is seeking qualified volunteer drivers to transport patients by DAV network transport van to and from the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Hampton, Va. Currituck board to hold redistricting meeting. The Currituck Board of Education will hold a public meeting on the proposed 2008-09 elementary school attendance maps in the auditorium at Currituck County Middle School Monday, Jan. 7, at 7 p.m. Maps and descriptions of the options are available at all elementary and middle schools and are posted online at www.currituck.k12.nc.us.

Red Cross volunteer orientation. Computers in Workplace classes. College of The Albemarle's Workforce Readiness/Human Resource Development Program will offer a 30-hour class on Computers in the Workplace beginning Tuesday, Jan. 15, and ending March 4. One class will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., while the second class will meet from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. through March 4. The morning class will be held at the State Employment Security Commission on McArthur Drive, while the evening class will be held in Room FC-207 of the John Wood Foreman Technology Center. Wildlife Resources Commission to hold hearing. The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission will hold a public hearing on proposed hunting, trapping and fishing rules at Swain Auditorium in Edenton Tuesday, Jan. 22, at 7 p.m. Among the rule changes to be discussed are a reduction in the Eastern season buck bag limit and an extension on squirrel season. The Camden County 4-H Foundation has established a "Treasure Point 4-H Camp Re-building fund" to raise money to replace the log cabin destroyed by arsonists in early November.
