Horse promotion referendum. Horse owners/lessors will vote today, on whether to continue to voluntarily assess themselves $2 for each ton of commercial horse feed sold. The referendum will be held at area Extension Service centers from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

ECSU Founders Day. North Carolina Court of Appeals Senior Justice James A. Wynn Jr. will be the speaker for Elizabeth City State University's Founders Day celebration in the Mickey L. Burnim Fine Arts Center today at 10 a.m.

Computers in the Workplace. College of The Albemarle's Human Resources Development/Workforce Readiness Program will offer a 30-hour Computers in the Workplace class in Room FC-207 beginning Tuesday. One class will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., the other from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The fee for the class is $55, which doesn't include a $5 computer usage fee.
