Dr. W.T. Griggs reunion. The graduating classes of 1940-1960 at the former Dr. W.T. Griggs High School are planning a large reunion on May 24. To join the planning committee or to attend the reunion call Faye Lewark at 491-8293.
Child care conference. The "Shooting for the Stars" Child Care Conference will be Saturday at the N.C. Cooperative Extension Center in Barco. The featured speaker will be Kim Johnson, a motivational speaker and author. Also planned are 18 educational sessions on topics such as conversational Spanish, sign language, recognizing child abuse, literacy and more. Arbor Day Tree giveaway. The Currituck County Master Gardeners will be giving away trees during its annual Arbor Day Tree Giveaway Saturday. Varieties include river birch, crepe myrtle and live oak. The trees will be given away beginning at 9 a.m. at the Moyock Post Office, the Food Lion in Grandy, and Ace Hardware in Corolla. For more info, call 232-2262.
County to dedicate elections building. Currituck officials will host a dedication for the new Board of Elections facility starting at 5 p.m. Monday. Refreshments to follow. Town meeting to discuss OLF. The Board of Commissioners will host a Town Meeting starting at 7 p.m. at Moyock Middle School Tuesday, March 18 to discuss the Navy's proposed Outlying Landing Field. Landscaping under drought conditions. The Currituck Center of the Cooperative Extension Center will host the seminar, "Drought and Your Landscape," Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Topics will include plant selection and installation, irrigation and water management, lawns, and vegetable production. Spaghetti dinner. Currituck Ruritan Club will host a spaghetti dinner from 5 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Crawford Fire Station in Sligo. Children 12 and under, $3. Adults, $5.

Daffodil Show. The Northeast North Carolina Daffodil Society will hold its first-ever Daffodil Show at the new Cooperative Extension Center at 120 Community Way in Barco Saturday, March 22. "Flowering" Bonsai class. The Currituck Cooperative Extension is sponsoring "Flowering" Bonsai class from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 29 at the new Extension facility in Barco. This is an advanced class and students must have taken the beginners class. Cost is $55, all materials and lunch provided. Class size is limited to 15. To pre-register, call 232-2262.
TAG flea market. The Currituck Library's Teen Advisory Group will host a booth at this year's Relay for Life from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 5 in the parking lot at Currituck High School. The group will be selling crafts and used items to raise money to support the teen area of the library.
Currituck Flower and Garden show. This years theme for the Home Flower and Garden Show is "Going Native." The two-day event, the only garden show in northeast North Carolina, is sponsored by the Currituck Master Gardeners and the NC Cooperative Extension Service, Currituck County Center. It will be held Friday and Saturday, April 11 and 12, at the new Cooperative Extension facility located at 120 Community Way, Barco. Show hours are 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. For more information, call 232-2262.
