Tourism panels to meet. The finance committee of the Elizabeth City-Pasquotank County Tourism Development Authority will meet at the Visitors and Convention Bureau today at 9 a.m. The personnel committee will meet at 9:45 a.m.

Federal retirees/employees to meet. The National Active & Retired Federal Employees Association will meet in the Community Room of the W.C. Witherspoon Memorial Library today at 1 p.m. Debbie Leete, director of the Nutrition and Fitness Council, will be the speaker. For info, call 330-2119.

Wee Ones Baby Fair. Albemarle Hospital will host its first-ever Wee Ones Baby Fair for parents-to-be and new families in the hospital education center Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more info, call 384-4455.

Hope Group to meet. Dorothy Spruill Redford, curator of the Somerset Plantation in Creswell, will speak at the home of Kurt and Bobbi Hunsberger at 900 W. Church St., Elizabeth City, Saturday beginning at 12:20 p.m.

Home gardening program. Pam Herl and Jan Hipworth of the Pasquotank County Master Gardeners will present a home gardening program on herbs at Little River Antiques Mall on Old U.S. Highway 17, Saturday at 11 a.m. For more info, call 312-4970.

New immunization requirements. Schools in North Carolina will require all incoming kindergartners, 6th-grade students an first-time college students to receive a Tdap vaccination before the 2008-09 school year. This vaccine is necessary to protect adults and children against tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis. . American Legion Post 40 to meet. American Legion Post 40 will hold a breakfast meeting Saturday at 8 a.m. Doors open at 7:30 a.m.

'Shooting for the Stars' child care conference. The Currituck center of the N.C. Cooperative Extension Service will host the "Shooting for the Stars" child care conference Saturday. Motivational speaker and author Kim Johnson will be the speaker. Attendees will cover 18 educational topics, including learning conversational Spanish, sign language, storytelling, recognizing child abuse and food safety. Griggs reunion planning under way. Planning is under way for a reunion of the graduating classes of W.T. Griggs High School from 1940-1960 on May 24. Anyone interested in joining the planning committee or attending the event can call Faye Lewark at 491-8293.

Hospital board to meet. The Albemarle Hospital Authority Board of Commissioners and Regional Medical Services, Inc. Board of Trustees will meet in the hospital boardroom Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Committee to discuss hunting with dogs. The Pasquotank County Special Projects Committee will meet in the boardroom of the courthouse to discuss hunting with dogs, Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Currituck town meeting on OLF. Sons of Confederate Vets to meet. Paul Martin, a history teacher at Currituck County High School, will be the guest speaker at the dinner meeting of the William F. Martin Camp Sons of Confederate Veterans at Topside Restaurant in Shiloh Wednesday at 7 p.m. His topic will be "What was the Cause of the War of Northern Aggression?"

Conservation Club seeking members.
