Spring tourism meetings. The Currituck County Department of Travel & Tourism will hold its annual 'Spring Into Tourism' meetings for area business leaders from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 22 at the Historic Currituck Courthouse, and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 23 at the Hampton Inn in Corolla. Refreshments served. Please RSVP by calling 232-2708 no later than today.

Community foundation accepting grant applications. The boards of directors of the Northern Albemarle Community Foundation, the Chowan Community Funds, the Bertie-Hertford Community Foundation and the Currituck-Dare Community Foundation are accepting grant requests for community projects funded from several local community funds. Nature Journal workshop. A workshop from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday will feature a presentation on the use of nature journals, as well as the opportunity for participants to work on their journals. The rain date is April 26. Call 919-707-0242.

Democratic convention. The Currituck County Democratic Party will hold its convention commencing starting at noon Saturday at The J.P. Knapp School. Lunch provided; the business meeting will end at 1 p.m.

Annual Spring Golf Classic. The Currituck Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Spring Golf Classic, Friday, April 25 at The Carolina Club, Grandy. There will be a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start with registration beginning at 10 a.m. Team spaces are still available for $300 per four-person team and includes cart and green fees, range balls, a loaded goodie bag and an awards reception following the tournament. Spring Into Music Festival. The Currituck County Band Boosters is seeking craft makers for its Spring Into Music Festival, set for Saturday, April 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more info, call Dana at 232-0431.

Tropical Bonsai class. The Cooperative Extension will host a "Tropical" Bonsai class from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 26 at the Cooperative Extension office at 120 Community Way, Barco. Cost is $60 per person, which includes lunch and all materials. Enrollment is limited to 15 students. To pre-register, call the Cooperative Extension at 232-2262.OLF 'scoping' meetings. The U.S. Navy will host "scoping" meeting on its proposal to study a site in Camden County for a proposed outlying landing field, at the Cooperative Extension Service building in Barco Saturday, April 28, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.; and at Camden County High School Monday, May 5 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Navy schedules OLF scoping meeting. The U.S. Navy will conduct a scoping meeting from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, April 28 at the Cooperative Extension Center to hear public comment on a proposed Navy outlying landing field in Camden County. National Day of Prayer. This year's National Day of Prayer theme is "Prayer! America's Strength & Shields" and will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, May 1 in courtroom C of
