Cut cable line knocks out CenturyLink service

CenturyLink customers in northeastern North Carolina were without Internet service for more than five hours Saturday after a fiber optic cable line was accidentally severed in Kill Devil Hills, a company spokesman said.

OK, so we know the cable was

OK, so we know the cable was cut and when it was cut. But who cut it and why was it cut? Somebody knows, why not us? What is the point of this story?
