Duke EP to buy cities’ shares in power plants for $1.2B

Duke Energy Progress is offering $1.2 billion for shares in the power plants owned by Elizabeth City, Edenton, Hertford and 29 other eastern North Carolina cities — a deal that if approved, is expected to result in lower energy costs for thousands of residents across the region.
