Elizabeth City State University announces the following events this week:

• 8:30 today, open house at the Mickey L. Burnim Fine Arts Center.

• 7:30 Feb. 7, the Lula Washington Dance Theatre, at the Mickey L. Burnim Fine Arts Center. Ticket prices $6 college students with current college/school ID card; $6 for children under age 12 and $11 for the general public.

• The Elizabeth City State University Concert Choir presents “The Sounds of African Americans: The Strengths Within” concert at 7 p.m., on Feb. 8, at Arts of the Albemarle’s McGuire Theatre. Tickets are $15 for the general public and $12 for students.

• Tuesday, Feb. 4

Science Bowl Competition, 11 a.m. in room #138 of the Jenkins Science Center, faculty presiding: Dr. Leon Pringle and Dr. Gloria Payne.

STEM Session, 12:30 p.m. in room #104 Pharmacy Complex, presiding: Dr. Farrah Jackson.

Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society Chapter meeting, STEM Education seminar featuring Rodney Ellis, president of NCAE, refreshments, 4 p.m. in room #229 in Dixon-Patterson Hall.

• Wednesday Feb. 5

Black History Day, African Americans in STEM Seminar I, 10 a.m. in room #103 of the Pharmacy Complex, presiding: Dr. Kassim Traore.

STEM Research & Education Seminar Internship Roundtable, 11 a.m. in room #138 of the Jenkins Science Center, presiding: Mr. Michael Jefferson, an ECSU graduate student.

African Americans in STEM Seminar II, 1 p.m. in room #103 of the Pharmacy Complex, presiding: Dr. Yolanda Anderson.

• Thursday, Feb. 6

Weather & Computer Modeling, 11 a.m. in room #228 of Dixon Patterson Hall, presiding: Mr. Orestes Gooden, Dr. Rich Loft, NCAR Technology Development Division.

STEM Research & Education Seminar I, 1 p.m. in the William and Jacqueline Gilchrist Education and Psychology Complex, presiding: Dr. Sheryl Bradford and Dr. Josiah Samson, Dr. Edward Hill and Mr. Ervin Howard, Best Practices for Incorporating NASA Climate Pedagogy.

• Friday, Feb. 7
