GASTONIA — Police in Gastonia have charged a man with second-degree murder after his girlfriend’s body was found inside her home.

Area media outlets report 30-year-old Dwayne Patrick Robinson is also charged with larceny of a motor vehicle.

Officers went to the home of 47-year-old Adaline Maria Phillips on Thursday, and found her body. It’s believed she had been dead for several days. Police Sgt. Heath McMullan said Phillips’ car was also missing.

The Gaston Gazette reports that arrest records say Robinson killed Phillips by stabbing her in her chest.

Robinson is also wanted for assault charges out of Georgia. He is currently jailed on a $253,000 secured bond and faces a court hearing on Monday. Jail records didn’t indicate whether Robinson has an attorney.
