The old saying about patience being a virtue could apply to River City Community Development Corp. and its plans to build a business incubator facility.

thank goodness!

an incubator in EC is right on time! those whose perspective can see beyond small town America and the "way back when" recognize that the incubator models are building business in America again. Duke's Fuqua School of Business, as well as the business schools at North Carolina Central and UNC-Chapel Hill sponsor incubators for entrepreneurs and, i believe, match them with MBA students to offer advice. and the location couldn't be better...close to the bypass which makes for easy access. now, i am all for rehabilitation of old and historic buildings. unfortunately, the distance of EC's downtown from the main places of commerce just don't make downtown an attractive location for this kind of business. additionally, aren't the majority of those downtown spaces priced out of a range and/or in such a state of disrepair that all the tax credits in the world wouldn't make it economically feasible to rehab? anyway, i applaud LJM and River City CDC for collaborating for the good of the community. at least someone is doing *something* instead of just complaining.

Waste

This is a waste of money. I hope TDA will go back and do a review on all the money that has been wasted on this project. Just go back for last 20 years and review your news stories. When I was vice chairman of Small Business Council of NC, we visited several incubators and they were all in old buildings and served each area fine. Never seen any building built like this and never seen this kind of money spent on an incubator. Tax payers have already spent 1.75 million on this project and got nothing in return. Wake up TDA and do your job. Pete Lacy
