As America today both inaugurates its first black president for a second term and celebrates the Martin Luther King holiday nearly 50 years after the slain civil rights leader gave his famed “I Have a Dream” speech in Washington, D.C., a number of local people say they believe President Barack Obama’s re-election shows progress toward King’s dream.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Was A Republican and not a Democrat!

The black people need to read their History Book on DR.King? This is a insult to Dr. King!

I seriously doubt...

That Mr King, in all his hope for equality and unity, would agree with this article. Somehow certain people see color over quality as the prize for putting him in the White House.

I also think MLK would have some harsh words for those who belong to the "gimmie gimmie" crowd of society. You are talking about a man who worked along side others for an incredible goal.

I wish he was still with us today, and since the article speculates that Obama in the WH is progress towards MLK's dream....I can speculate that MLK would be horrified to see how things have spiraled so far downhill. I think he would feel shame at everyone who looks to see how they can get a bigger piece of the pie without working a day in their life. And...I would hope that he would be intelligent to know that putting a man in the WH based on color rather than qualification & ability is wrong for the entire country.

Celebrate the tax increase from your paycheck !

While you are celebrating Obama you can also celebrate the increase taxes that are coming out of your paycheck. Obama didnt extend the Bush tax cuts so starting January 2013 you will see less money in your paycheck. Also, you can celebrate the increase in your Medical Insurance premiums coming soon. Do you remember when Obama said "I will never increase the taxes on the middle class!"? Well, he lied. Your taxes are going up. Ok, continue with your celebration now..........
