MOYOCK — A boil water advisory was issued for fewer than 40 customers in the Wedgewood neighborhood after a small water line break Monday morning.
Water distribution supervisor Scott Horsfield with the Currituck Water Department said water service was turned off to residents on Willow Drive for staff to repair a small leak in a one-inch line.
After service was restored, customers on Willow Drive were advised to boil water as a precaution until Tuesday at noon, when the boil advisory will be lifted. Customers in the area should use bottled water or boil any water used for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, and making ice, a county press release advised. Vigorous boiling for one minute should kill any disease-causing organisms that may be present in the water, the release said.
The county will be collecting samples throughout the affected area to confirm the microbiological quality as soon as pressure is restored. If there is a problem, customers will be notified of a continued advisory. Customers may experience periods of low pressure and discolored water until full service is restored.
