US military deaths in Afghanistan region at 833

Of those, the military reports 640 were killed by hostile action.

Outside the Afghan region, the Defense Department reports 72 more members of the U.S. military died in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Of those, five were the result of hostile action. The military lists these other locations as Guantanamo Bay Naval Base, Cuba; Djibouti; Eritrea; Ethiopia; Jordan; Kenya; Kyrgyzstan; Philippines; Seychelles; Sudan; Tajikistan; Turkey; and Yemen.

There were also four CIA officer deaths and two military civilian deaths.

The latest deaths reported by the military:

— Two soldiers died Thursday by a roadside bomb in southern Afghanistan.

The latest identifications reported by the military:

— Army Spc. Julian L. Berisford, 25, of Benwood, W.Va.; died Wednesday in Paktika province, Afghanistan of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit using small arms and rocket-propelled grenade fires; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 509th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, Fort Richardson, Alaska.
