New sleep center opens

Area doctors combined forces and sleep centers to create a sleep center next to the hospital, according to an Albemarle Health news release.

The Albemarle Health Sleep Center will be led by Dr. Nancy Morewitz of Albemarle Neurology Associates, who is board certified in sleep medicine and neurology. Dr. Steven Manuli is the center’s operations administrator. The venture is also in cooperation with Omega Sleep Centers.

The center is located in the Park and Village medical complex off North Road Street.

Center staff conduct sleep tests with patients who have doctor referrals regarding some type of sleep disorder from Sunday to Friday evenings and every other Saturday night.

The four-room center offers tests and treatment of those with sleep disorders, including sleep apnea, insomnia, restless leg syndrome and narcolepsy.
