Law enforcement and school officials did not provide any update Wednesday on the medical status of a Northeastern High School student who was rushed to Albemarle Hospital after collapsing on the school campus Tuesday afternoon.
Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Public Schools spokeswoman Angela Noblitt said she could not provide any updates because what happened to the student is considered a confidential medical matter.
Pasquotank Sheriff Randy Cartwright has said the call came in at approximately 3:30 p.m. after the student, whom he identified as a female, began suffering from respiratory distress. Cartwright has said the student was found at the back side of the campus.
Attempts to reach Cartwright for an update Wednesday were unsuccessful.
Pasquotank-Camden Emergency-911 Director Jody Rolling said the reports he received identified the patient as 14 years old. Federal privacy laws prohibit emergency personnel from disclosing the names of patients.
