Schools give early closing notices

Due to anticipated hazardous road conditions, public school districts and a private school in the region have cancelled classes for today.

Officials at Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Public Schools, Camden County Schools, Currituck County Schools, Perquimans County Schools and Edenton-Chowan Schools all announced their decisions on Wednesday afternoon.

Additionally, the private Albemarle School on Wednesday afternoon announced it had cancelled classes and pre-school for today.

Elizabeth City State University officials ECSU will have a two hour delay Thursday and classes will begin at 10 am.

Also, all College of The Albemarle campuses will operate under a two-hour delay today. Campuses will open at 10 a.m..

At Mid-Atlantic Christian University, offices will open at 10 a.m. First classes will begin at 10:30 a.m.

At Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Schools, today will be an optional workday for teachers.

Friday was scheduled as a workday for teachers at ECPPS, but now is set to be a regular school day.

At Perquimans Schools, officials said that students will be staying home today, but that today will be an optional workday for teachers.

Edenton-Chowan Schools officials also said that their schools will be closed today, but that 12 month employees will have a two-hour delay to report to work.

Girls Inc. will be closed today, and reopen Friday for its after-school program.
