CURRITUCK — Currituck County’s communications center is currently having trouble receiving 911 calls from Knotts Island, a county spokesman said today.

Only wireless calls from the Currituck community across Currituck Sound are coming through to the dispatch center.

Currituck officials advise callers who can’t reach a dispatcher by dialing 911 to call the communications center at 232-2216 or 232-2424.

Verizon is working to repair the problem, the spokesman said.
