Don't the schools have a maintenace department?

What is sad about this is the local school system has a maintenance department that is supposed to take care of the needs of the schools. What the heck is the maintenance department doing if there are so many things that need to be done that volunteers have to come in the school to help do the jobs that the maintenance department is supposed to be doing.
