Meets at Three Squares Restaurant, Elizabeth City, 9 a.m. for police-escorted ride through downtown Elizabeth City, Hertford and Edenton at noon

Boating safety class

Pelican Marina, Elizabeth City, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Class meets N.C. requirements for teens who wish to operate a personal watercraft, learn about boat selection, trailering, navigation signs, safety equipment, handling a boat and rules of the road, $25 per student covers books and training materials.

COA sheet metal course

Kevin Belangia fund

Gateway Bank and BB&T have opened a fund for the family of Kevin Belangia, who was injured in a car accident Wednesday, Nov. 11 and is currently on life support. Autism discussion

Patti Stanier, parent advocate of the Autism Society of N.C. Eastern Region, will discuss autism at Room 105, McClendon Hall, Elizabeth City State University, at 5 p.m. A live stream will also be available at www.autismecsu.com.

Thanksgiving trash schedule

The Elizabeth City Public Works Department will be closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 27. Trash routes will be picked up on Monday, Nov. 30. Trash routes normally picked up Monday, Nov. 30, and Tuesday, Dec. 1, will be picked up on Tuesday,

Free Thanksgiving dinner

Trac One Restaurant, 143 U.S. Highway 158 West, Camden, will offer traditional turkey dinner for the homeless, needy, and those alone for the holiday, 11:30 a.m.

Library closures

The W.C. Witherspoon Memorial Library will be closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 26-27 for the Thanksgiving holiday and re-open Saturday, Nov. 28. The Currituck and Moyock branch libraries will be closed Thursday through Saturday and reopen on Monday, Nov. 30
