COROLLA – Authorities recovered the body of a 38-year-old man Wednesday who is presumed to have drowned while bodysurfing in the Atlantic Ocean off Corolla. Currituck County Sheriff’s Lt. Jason Banks declined to identify the man, who disappeared while bodysurfing near the Corolla Light beach access. Authorities are currently working to notify the man’s next of kin. Banks said there was no sign of foul play. The U.S. Coast Guard reported receiving a call from Currituck officials about 12:15 p.m. that a man bodysurfing had fallen off his board and not resurfaced.
