showers for boaters

We may have people showing up dead by gunshot all around the town, but look on the bright side, the city council will use our money to buy a building and make showers and toilets for boaters. I think that will help the situation a lot!!!!

Boaters bring money

The city needs money, the boaters bring it and spend it. Don't confuse the two issues, conveniences for people who spend money here vs society level drug cockroaches. This is obviously a shooting over drugs, most lower torso shootings are. The money for building conveniences for boaters is not enough to solve a society wide issue that will take millions along with a concerned public to end. It will however bring money in that will provide jobs for people who want to work.

How about a thanks to our new police chief for getting a suspect already in this case.

Curfew Nutty Idea

Freespeaker

So you want to take away my right to walk down a public street because of criminals. So I will not be able to take my early morning walks. You want me to have to stay locked in my house at night even though I am a law abiding citizen.

Attn: I could see the signs leading into the City of Elizabeth City now. "You may not enter this city between midnight and 6am. You will be arrested"!

Give me a break.

To: ECNC

Per your request: Break!

What's the next audience response word in your cheer?

There seems to be a pattern here

The vast majority of recent shootings have occurred between the hours of 12 midnight and 6 am. Other than those working midnight shifts, what are people doing out roaming the streets? The answer is plain to see. They're up to no good. Theft and drugs play heavily in this equation. A fairly simple answer. Declare a pedestrian curfew in the city from 12 midnight to 6am. This way, those driving to and from work won't be affected or inconvenienced. For those up to no good and cruising around in their cars, it should be easy for the police to spot. It won't solve the whole problem, but it's still a step in the right direction.

Practices her rap

I wonder how many drug dealing dirtbags would give a "poo poo about a curfew." ;)

Freespeaker; you are just so

Freespeaker; you are just so far from reality it is absolutely amazing! We have about as much use for a curfew as a hog has with a bible!

Geez Louise!

Where do you people come from? Better yet, where were you educated at, if at all? You can't even quote a phrase correctly! It should read: "We have about as much use for a curfew as a hog has FOR a bible". It is very apparent that intelligence can be measured, but ignorance has no scale.

Papers please?

Tell me please,

The difference in your suggested police state checking of proper papers scenario and the existing citywide surveillance cameras set up and monitored by the city police dept. in selected high crime areas of EC? The night time curfew and on-scene police presence is certainly more proactive than monitoring by a camera, which is REACTIVE. Decent, law-abiding citizens aren't going to be out and about during these wee hours of the night.

As an afterthought, maybe it is just as well to leave things as they are. Once all the nocturnal low life drug sellers and their clientele kill each other off, the unlawful species will die out, right? The majority of the violence and killing is happening in predominately black neighborhoods, so it's really just a cultural thing isn't it?

Out and About

Just because you do not get out during the night, does not mean that others do not and to suggest that people that are out after mid-night are up to no good is just nuts. I take my morning walks between 3 and 5 am. That is when I start my day. But I should not be able to do this because of criminals. Should there be a higher police presence in that area? Yes and I have said that for years. I use to walk home from the CG base at mid-night through that area and watched it go down hill. The people that live in that area also need to do more to clean it up. When they see something or hear something they need call and notify the police. It has to start with the law abiding citizens that live there.

There is a term most befitting your action:

An unfortunate statistic of criminal elements
