HAVELOCK — A Havelock man has been charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon following a shooting incident in which three police officers were wounded.
Authorities said none of the injuries to the officers Thursday appeared to be life-threatening, although all were taken to hospitals. Two were treated and released.
District Attorney Scott Thomas says 60-year-old Richard Berry has been charged. It's not immediately clear if he has an attorney.
Havelock city spokeswoman Diane Miller said Berry was also injured in the incident, but the injuries were not serious and did not result from being shot by officers.
Authorities say police were summoned to Berry's home in response to a report of a man with a gun.
