Courthouses, county offices, health agency closed Wednesday

Courthouses and county offices across the region will be closed on Wednesday because of the large snowstorm expected to hit Tuesday afternoon. 

All court sessions in the 1st Judicial District scheduled for Wednesday, including a session of Superior Court, have been canceled.

Court officials will make a determination about holding court on Thursday and Friday after checking road conditions and other factors associated with the weather.  

County offices in Camden, Pasquotank will be closed all day Wednesday. The closings will apply to county facilities, including the library and senior center.

Camden County Manager Mike Renshaw said the Albemarle Commission also has advised that congregate and Meals on Wheels nutrition programs have been postponed for Wednesday and Thursday.

In Currrituck, curbside trash and recycling collection scheduled for Wednesday in Corolla has been postponed to Thursday. An assessment of conditions will be made on Wednesday afternoon to determine whether further postponement is necessary.

Also, the date of the public meeting to review plans for a proposed softball/baseball complex at Currituck Community Park has been changed to Feb. 4 at 6. The meeting will be held at the Currituck Senior Center.

Albemarle Regional Health Services will also be closed on Wednesday. Spokeswoman Jill Jordan said ARHS will monitor conditions before deciding on an operating schedule for Thursday. InterCounty Public Transportation Authority services will not operate on Wednesday, she said.

Museum of the Albemarle will also be closed on Wednesday and reopen on Thursday.

The Albemarle Family YMCA also announced plans to close at 6 p.m. Tuesday because of the storm.
