When the Elizabeth City Area Chamber of Commerce presents its 103rd annual Dinner Meeting next week, there will be music.

This year’s theme, “Music of the Night” will feature numerous local artists performing pieces from the hit Broadway musical, “The Phantom of the Opera.” The annual event happens at Elizabeth City State University’s K.E. White Graduate Center Thursday, Feb. 13.

“It’s time that we switch up this annual tradition and feature some beautiful music rather than the traditional speaker as we have had in the past,” said chamber president Kelly Thorsby. “The Arts have been an integral part of revitalizing our downtown and you can’t help but fall in love with the musical lineup we have for our guests. This will be an evening celebrating the Arts as well as our valued chamber members and sponsors”.

People attending the event will kicks off the evening with a cocktail party. Kelly’s Restaurant from Nags Head will serve a buffet dinner along with beer and wine. Food and drink will accompany a silent auction.

2013 Business of the Year, Non-Profit of the Year, Ambassador of the Year, and Volunteer of the Year will be awarded at this event.

Performers include Rebecca and Darrell Cross of Elizabeth City Downtown, Inc., Jeffrey and Gloria Emmerich of College of The Albemarle, Rene Finkenkeller of Encore Theatre Group, Lindsey Orton of Arts of the Albemarle’s Center Players, Mariah and Nathan Schierer of College of The Albemarle, Dr. Walter Swan of Elizabeth City State University.

Guests are asked to include Red in their semi-formal attire to support Heart Health Awareness Month. The evening begins at 6 p.m. and $50 tickets are available at the chamber now.
