Our View: Statement blaming council for starting probe can end it

If ever there was a case of buyer’s remorse it’s what City Council members are apparently feeling since agreeing last month to launch an investigation of Elizabeth City Mayor Joe Peel and City Manager Rich Olson.

As someone who has followed - and spoken out often on this sad situation - I believe your outline of events is accurate. I agree 100% with your assessment of Michael Brook's position. However, doubt your idea will be well received at this late date. Unfortunately, our City Council is about to learn an expensive lesson - using our taxpayer's dollars. Once this plays out, can only hope that our voters (many of them also taxpayers) will hold those responsible for this folly - responsible. Bill Hiemer
