Local teachers who held a forum on education at Museum of the Albemarle recently stated on their website that people should attend in order to “get Steinburg,” a reference to state Rep. Bob Steinburg, R-Chowan. From the reporting by The Daily Advance of this event one could conclude the forum proved to be nothing but a pep rally for Democratic legislative candidates.

"courteously as possible", a comment that carries a deep draft.

Mr. Adams, You are Incorrect!

Mr. Adams, while you have the right to speak your mind and as well you should, I do disagree on your opinion on the Education Forum. The Forum was hosted by NCAE and NCRSP, whose members have made public education their careers. They are truly stakeholders in public education. We merely wanted the Legislators and candidates to speak on where public education is today and their perspective on the future of it in North Carolina. All Legislators and candidates vying for legislative offices were invited to attend and speak briefly to the audience and answer questions. All of the questions were screened and provided to the moderator who was instructed to not allow anyone there to be rude and discourteous to our panelists. The moderator was not a member of NCAE or NCRSP. There was no plan to "get Steinburg". He would have been treated as courteously as possible by our organization. While we do have differences with him in regards to public education, we were willing to listen. It was not a pep rally for the Democratic party. It was essentially an Education Forum. Our members and other school personnel have concerns. They are economically hurting. With all due respect, I disagree with your opinion but as I stated, this is our right as Americans. Take care!
