Elizabeth City police need help finding a suspect in connection with the report of gunfire Friday evening on Davis Street. Rashawn Maurice Baum, 17, is wanted for allegedly discharging a firearm inside the city limits and for allegedly going armed to the terror of the people, police Lt. Mike Boone said. Boone said Baum's last known address was in the 300 block of Culpepper Street. Anyone with any additional information is asked to phone Investigator Eddie Graham at the Police Department at 335-4321. The first reports, which came in at 6:10 p.m., said the gunfire occurred in the area of the 400 block of Davis. Officers spoke with people in the area and were told that a driver of a gold-colored sport utility vehicle went past a residence and that between four and 10 shots were fired, Boone said. Boone said there were no reports of any injuries and no reports of property damage. Boone said officers couldn't locate spent shell casings, but he said Baum became a suspect after further investigation of the incident. Davis Avenue is between Roanoke Avenue and Peartree Road.
