In response to a recent letter to the editor, yes, indeed, people actually do steal flowers off graves. I once placed flowers on my son's grave in New Hollywood Cemetery, and one day later, not only were the flowers gone, but a lovely vase I'd purchased in Ireland was also stolen. Words couldn't describe how disappointed and sad I felt.
Regrettably, thieves will
always be among us.

Make flower theft from cementaries a felony, with stiff jail time. This will stop the thefts. Also, if police manpower permits, have officers patrol cementaries.

My mother was in Westlawn to put flowers on her parents' grave and saw a woman stop and take flowers off a grave, then drive around and put them on another grave.
