I am not a resident of Elizabeth City; however, I do live in Pasquotank County. So, with that stated, how can the residents of Elizabeth City put up with Howdy Doody and the EC Comedy Crew (Rich Olson and the city council)? Every day that passes, we hear of another act of stupid arrogance by either the city manager or the members of city council. I believe that the biggest problem in Elizabeth City is not the lack of interest by residents, but that the council and Olson don't really give a hoot what is good for the residents or the city, but what will help themselves.
Does anyone believe that Olson truly has a good enough resume to be hired by another city? Maybe if he omits the problems from his current job. Between the City Council and Mr. Olson and the Currituck County Commissioners with their "leader" Barry Nelms, it is no surprise that northeastern North Carolina is a joke to a lot of the state. It's too bad that "It's Howdy Doody Time" here.

Yes JD that would be a philosophical way of saying the dumbing down of America lives and breaths here in Elizabeth City.
Who we elect reflects on us all. At least now some people are starting to speak out and be heard and not stay in the shadows. The more that happens may cause more people to think about who they vote for and why.
If you vote and elect a crook or a person with no morals does that mean your are like that also? I hope not but everyone should get more informed and get off thier butts and vote.
