While half of the Elizabeth City Police Department spends all day writing $100 tickets for seat-belt and minor speed-limit violations — all of which will be reduced by the district attorney's office — and the other half hang around the 7-Eleven drinking coffee, more serious crimes are taking place throughout our city.
Gang-related activity continues to increase; shooting into houses is an everyday thing; robberies occur in broad daylight; crack cocaine is easier to purchase than Tylenol; and prostitutes walk up and down North Road Street all day long in plain view of police.
I would like to see the ECPD set up some driver's license checks on Rivershore Road like they do everyday on Brooks Avenue. How long do you think Chief Charles Crudup would keep his job then?

Are gangs shooting at people and homes off of Rivershore Road like they are on Bunnells Ave just off of Brooks Ave? Nope I didn't think so.
