American voters say 'no’ to fear

The Daily Advance

Saturday, November 15, 2008

Following in the example of the current administration, columnist Bob Steinburg continues to avoid the truth by attempting to create fear in the minds and hearts of Americans.

The truth is that 66 million Americans, regardless of race or religion, voted for Barack Obama for president. The reason is that those Americans feared four more years of George Bush, aka John McCain. They feared four more years of needless war, four more years of needless loss of life, four more years of wasted resources and missed opportunity. They feared four more years of the erosion of our constitutional rights, four more years of torture, four more years of lying and deceit.

Instead of being fearful, they hoped to be able to say we are all Americans once again. This election restored that pride. Americans have shown that we can rise above the politics of fear. With its opportunity for all, America is still the greatest country on earth.

Only time will tell if President-elect Obama is up to the task. Yes, America and the world will be watching, but this time we are watching with renewed hope for a better America, and also with renewed responsibility to make sure that our elected officials are held accountable for their actions.

It is POLITICALLY CORRECT to vote for a black man. It's "the thing" to do so we don't disenfranchise ANY race...especially the blacks. The only experience Obama has is through the former Clinton cabinet, which he is appointing. There's no "Change", it's Politics as usual. God help us all.

Al, you are right.
While I would have happily voted for McCain in 2000, that is not the same McCain that just ran and lost. It was sad to see how the RNC/bush team led him down the road of spreading hate and fear. Hoperully the old McCain will reappear in the Senate.
