State Senate Pro-Tem Phil Berger, R-Guilford, has suggested a tax reform measure that would abolish personal and corporate taxes while partially replacing the lost revenue with a statewide sales tax on more items, including food. What do you think of this proposal?

It is my opinion that consumption taxing makes the lower income folks pay more proportionately than those who have better resources. I think that the state would make better use of their time and resources refining the system that is in place.

Tax food and medical services?

Agreed guys EXCEPT there must be NO TAXES collected on groceries or medical expenses. Too many folks struggle as it is to buy food and the elderly (one of which I seem to have become) often struggle to pay medical costs as well. Of course, if it is the republican plan to eliminate the old folks it would be a good move to tax these items and services. We'll see, won't we. ;)

Absolutely

The fairest tax that could be levied! Whoever buys the most, pays the most. and as sparatus says, those who are paying no taxes help share the burden.
