Letter: Camden becoming pothole paradise

By Fred Romano

This may not be very important to some drivers but if you go through Camden County via N.C. Highway 34 you’re in for one shaky ride. What I’m referring to is the fact that the widening of that road puts the road that is driven on a pothole paradise. The state of Virginia can learn from these roads in Camden.

For the past year I’m sure more than one driver has had to realign the front end of his vehicle because of the deep fox holes on that road. Look, Highway in Vietnam at the height of the war was in better shape than this road!

Come on, Camden, you have collected enough fines from drivers over the past two years to at least reinvest in some filler for these manholes! Take this as a wake-up call!

Agree with the others - DOT

Agree with the others - DOT is the one to talk to. I suspect they're trying to hold off because there will be major, major paving going on there in the near future.

And, the Causeway is starting to fall apart again, too. What was it, a year ago or a year and a half ago when they had to re-do the side coming from Elizabeth City to Camden? I've notice that surface is cracking badly again.

Camden?

Maybe you are new here, but the counties own no roads.

Speak with the NC DOT.

When all the resent fuss over the potholes in VA

surfaced I immediately thought of the Camden Causeway.
