I recently read the article in the March 12 issue of The Daily Advance about the interest Dunkin’ Donuts, Buffalo Wild Wings, Hobby Lobby, Olive Garden and Red Lobster have shown in coming to Elizabeth City. These are all fine businesses. There was a statement in the article that bothered me. City Manager Rich Olson was quoted as saying “I’m really tired of dollar stores in Elizabeth City.”

Yes, the discount stores do help people on a fixed income. I shop at them every week. However, for the times you need something nice or different it will be great not to make a trip to Virginia!
