Pasquotank Commissioner Jeff Dixon recently reported another worm in the apple that should knock Vidant Health out of the running for the lease agreement with Albemarle Hospital, leaving only two other bidders: Duke LifePoint and Sentara Health.
Being a Carolina boy I have to pull for Duke. Let’s see if we can compete against Virginia. I bet we can!
I hope we have some wise commissioners who are thinking about health care and the schools and not their pockets. They should pick Duke; they’d be fools not to.
Don’t keep the status quo. Duke is knocking at the front door. Please open it up and let them in. Don’t let them wipe their feet and leave. We need them now!

Isn't Duke just a name?
If I'm not mistaken, the only thing "Duke" about Duke LifePoint is the name. Isn't the company out of Tennessee and has nothing to do with Duke University or Duke Medical School?

To put it best or in lay terms most people can understand. It's like buying the riding lawn mower sold at Wal-mart that says John Deer on it because it says John Deer. Yet, the quality of the lawn mower is the same as the Murray Lawn mower. Upon further inspection it has nothing to do with John Deer outside of marketing the name.
Do your research and you find the only reasonable choice.

The Commissioners and the Hospital board should give full consideration of the remaining three applicants and make the best decision for their constituents. "They should pick Duke, they'd be fools not to/" That's a good reason?
