As I opened my copy of the Daily Advance one recent morning, I noted yet another article in which individuals and/or groups seemingly indicate that a person’s race is what makes a candidate more (or less) qualified to represent the public in an elected office. I had thought, or perhaps it was more of a wish, that we had gotten beyond that and it was less of a black or white issue and more of a gray (as in gray matter) issue that counts.
