Heartworms should not be terminal for dogs
I was saddened to read that the Camden County Sheriff’s Department’s lone drug-sniffing dog, Rex, is suffering from a terminal case of heartworms. What makes this situation even more heartbreaking is that this is such a preventable condition. Hopefully, before purchasing another dog, the sheriff’s department will elicit the advice of a veterinarian and see that the next dog receives the best preventative care possible.
