With all the wonderful incense and candlelight around the Vatican, it’s still a very hard job to be pope at any age. I can imagine trying to look after 1.2 billion mischievous children around the world would be like trying to herd cats.
Pope Benedict, bless his heart, deserves his rest. Maybe he’ll be able to put his feet up now and watch some reruns of “I Love Lucy.”

Regarding his 'retirement,' none of us know what is in his heart, but we have to understand this was not a decision he made lightly so he could 'be able to put his feet up now and watch some reruns of “I Love Lucy.”' to quote the letter writer, or so he could 'sit around in a robe and slippers all day, like he does now,' according to a late-night host.
