It would seem that the recent flood of letters to the editor both for and against public prayer would stem the tide of inquiries regarding the appropriateness of the practice, but it hasn’t. In lieu of perusing the scriptures which are laced with numerous references to public prayer these letter-writers opt to display their total ignorance of the matter by lifting selected scriptures out of context. I don’t know where they matriculated but it appears they have not been well-served by their tutors. Didn’t anyone ever tell these unlearned heathen that you cannot randomly lift scripture out of context and apply it any way you want to suit your peculiar viewpoint?
